While there is little action on the national level regarding DACA, the State of California still recognizes the systemic need for financial assistance among undocumented immigrants through programs such as the CA Dream Act.

The CA Dream Acts allows California students who are not eligible for financial aid from the federal government to apply for state financial aid in order to attend some California colleges, universities, and Career Education Programs (CA.gov). CA Dream Act applications can be accessed and submitted online through the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC), a California government program whose mission is to increase access to higher education.

Types of aid include:

  • Cal Grants

  • UC Grants

  • State University Grants

  • California College Promise Grant

  • EOP/EOPS grants

  • Middle-Class Scholarships

  • Dream Loans at CSUs or UCs

  • In-state tuition at public universities in California (for eligible out-of-state students)
